Tall variety Ladies sorcerer is one of the most popular in Russia. The tomato has many positive characteristics, it is unpretentious and perfectly survives even in cold regions.

Characteristics, description of tomato

The branched bush is able to grow up to 180 cm, while special support is required, otherwise the plant falls and breaks.

The highest yield is observed with the formation of 2-3 rough stems. The leaves are rounded, slightly elongated, dark green. The fruits are large, gaining about 60 g, a bright red color. Elongated in shape, have a pointed end. The skin is smooth, does not crack, is covered with a thin layer of vegetable wax for protection, is able to tolerate rain drops and even small hailstones, so the tomatoes remain intact until the time of harvest. The pulp is dense, juicy and sweet, able to be stored for a long time. The root system is strong, able to withstand short droughts, forms fruits even in cold summers.

Advantages and disadvantages

Variety Ladies' sow is widely used among gardeners due to its many positive qualities, including the unusual appearance of the fruit.

  1. Tomatoes are early ripe, the first fruits ripen by the end of June.
  2. The variety feels comfortable both in closed greenhouses and on the site due to its unpretentiousness and quick adaptation to the conditions of the nutrient medium.
  3. Tomatoes form ovaries even in inclement weather, therefore they are actively grown in regions with sharp cold climates.
  4. The taste of pulp is moderately sweet. It can be used for various purposes: eat fresh, prepare salads, soups or pickle. By consistency, it is juicy, but does not contain many seeds.
  5. Fruits can not spoil for a long time and perfectly tolerate long transportation.

However, there are several disadvantages of this variety, which are rather relative in nature:

  1. The bush requires constant care, including garter and pruning. Plants regularly form new shoots, so it is very branched. In order for the fruits to appear in a timely manner, it is necessary to carefully monitor the growth rate of greenery.
  2. In areas with bad weather, tomatoes ripen a couple of weeks later than scheduled. But this is manifested only when growing in an open area, in greenhouses the bush gives fruit on time.

Seedling method of growing

You can grow healthy seedlings yourself if you follow some rules. It is necessary to pay attention to the climatic conditions of the area in order to determine the timing of landing. So, in the southern regions of the country, where the air warms up faster, the event is held in February-March, and young tomatoes are taken out to the open ground only by the end of April.

In the central part, seedlings are sown in March-April, and should not be tightened too much, otherwise the fruits will not have time to ripen. To the site - early June, in warm weather, the dates move to mid-May. In Siberia, it is recommended to plant seeds no later than April, and in open ground - from mid-June. Dates may vary depending on the specific weather conditions of the region.

Seed preparation

Before sowing seeds, you need to conduct thorough preparation to protect the tomato from diseases in the future, to increase the germination and yield of bushes.

  • Perform a complete disinfection. If the seeds are purchased, then they are disinfected in advance at the enterprise, but when collecting the material yourself, this important event should not be neglected. There are several ways to carry out this procedure:
    • Potassium permanganate. It will take 1 gram of substance per 100 ml of water, mix thoroughly. Seeds must be wrapped in a thin layer of cotton wool and immersed in a solution for 15-20 minutes. If you increase the time, then the germination rate will decrease significantly. After the procedure, gently rinse the material with water.
    • Soda. The solution is prepared from ordinary baking soda and water in a consistency of 0.5 g per 100 ml. Seeds wrapped in gauze or a cotton pad should be kept in infusion for at least 1 day, then rinse carefully. This event will increase the yield of the bush.
    • Fitosporin. 1 drop is diluted in 100 ml of liquid, the material is immersed for about 2 hours, thanks to this solution, germination is increased and the adaptation of seeds is improved.
    • Aloe. A nutrient solution using aloe juice and standing water in a ratio of 1: 1 increases the immunity of tomatoes, protecting them from infectious fungal infections. Seeds must be soaked for at least 1 day.
  • Then you need to disinfect the soil and capacity by doing drainage in it. This is done quite simply: the soil must be placed in an oven preheated to 200 ° and kept in it for about 10 minutes, then disinfected with boiling water, pouring soil and making sure that the glass liquid is through the openings on the bottom. Also, this event can be carried out using a solution of potassium permanganate, adding it to the soil and letting it dry completely for 2-3 weeks.
So, all pathogenic bacteria will be destroyed and the plant will be able to fully develop.

Transplanting seedlings into the ground

A correctly carried out transplant accompanies the rapid adaptation of tomatoes to a new substrate and their active vegetation in the future. In order not to harm the plant, you should adhere to certain rules:

  1. When the stem has reached a height of 15-20 cm, 5-7 healthy leaves and one brush have formed, Ladies' man is ready for transplantation.
  2. You should also pay attention to the internodes - they should not be large.
  3. It is not recommended to transplant tomatoes in excessively hot weather, strong gusty winds, or even slight precipitation.
  4. The best time to move the seedlings to the site is a cloudy, cool day.
  5. The gaps between the bushes should be at least 40 cm, as the variety has a very branched root system, and closely growing tomatoes can harm each other.
  6. It is necessary to dig a planting hole about 10-15 cm deep, while the stem should not be deepened more than 2 cm, otherwise it will begin to rot, and the roots will not be able to finally strengthen.
  7. Before planting, the soil must be mixed with peat tablets and ash to give greater nutrition. You can also add a little organics - humus, urea.
  8. After completing the procedure, thoroughly water the bush under the root.

Reckless way of growing

This method is recommended to be carried out in warm regions where the probability of unexpected frosts in late spring is minimal.

First you need to determine the location of the beds. The variety is photophilous, but does not tolerate direct sunlight, therefore, it must be placed in the southwestern or southeastern part of the garden. When growing in a greenhouse, if there is not enough light, it is necessary to install phytolamps. Tomato needs warm moist air, then it gives a large number of fruits, the period of active vegetation increases. Tomatoes grow well in peat-enriched soil, it can be a universal substrate or chernozem with the addition of organic top dressing. In order for the seeds to sprout, you need to carefully calibrate the temperature regime, otherwise the probability of plant death is high.

Planting seeds in the ground

Change to the site should be planted with the onset of constant warm weather, that is, in late spring and early summer. The landing procedure is carried out in several stages:

  1. First, the material must be placed in a solution of growth stimulants for 10-12 hours to increase the rate of maturation.
  2. Approximately 40 cm should be left between the planting pits and 60 cm between rows.
  3. Seeds are not recommended to be buried more than 3-5 cm, otherwise it will be difficult for the sprout to break through the soil layer.
  4. After sowing, you need to carefully moisten the soil so as not to wash off the seeds. This can be done using a spray gun or scattered irrigation.
  5. Sprinkle with a small layer of ash and black soil.
  6. With proper care, the first shoots should appear after 5 days. Only then can a full watering be carried out.

Necessary conditions and care for tomato ladies man

Although the Ladies' sowing variety is unpretentious, it still needs to be carefully taken care of in order to achieve maximum yield and avoid serious diseases.

Watering

Young shrubs are wetted in extreme cases, for example, with severe drought. The first 2-3 weeks of watering should be carried out without affecting the green part, so that all the liquid is absorbed directly by the root system, then the plant will take root more quickly and begin to develop. In the future, do not allow the drying of the soil. Tomatoes are moisture-loving and with a lack of fluid quickly wither. However, daily watering can harm Ladies' sow, causing fungal infections and killing the tomato. Thus, the norm for 1 bush is 3 liters as the soil dries.

Loosening

To provide the roots with oxygen, it is necessary to loosen the soil regularly: the first 1-2 months after growing in open ground - to a depth of about 10-15 cm, and then no more than 8 cm, so as not to harm the overgrown root system. The procedure is recommended to be carried out after each watering, combining with the weeding of harmful weeds, at least 1 time in 2 weeks.

Tying

About 3 weeks after planting the tomatoes on the site, you need to provide them with support so that the plant does not fall and bears fruit abundantly. There are several types of supports:

  1. Stakes. Must be more than 2 m to slightly exceed the size of the tomato. They should be placed at a distance of 10-12 cm from the base of the stem and deepened by 25 cm. After installation, you should wrap the support first with a rope, and then tie the bush itself.
  2. Cells. Externally, the device resembles a stool that does not have a seat. It is easily made by hand and can provide support for four closely growing tomatoes.
  3. Caps. Pyramid-shaped construction made of wire or flexible wooden rods.

Top dressing

For the entire growing period, 4 top dressings are carried out. The event itself is best done on a warm sunny day.

  1. The first is carried out 2-3 weeks after planting tomatoes on the site. Use a solution of mullein, humus or infusion from bird droppings.
  2. The second takes place before the formation of inflorescences using ammonium nitrate or potassium sulfate. You can also use organic fertilizers, such as wood ash.
  3. The third is carried out 2-3 weeks after the previous one. Nitrogen-containing and potassium mineral fertilizers are best suited.
  4. The fourth is non-root. It is recommended to carry it out using a solution of superphosphate, which sprayed a green bush.

Diseases and pests

ProblemsPrevention and control measures
Late blight. An integrated treatment approach is recommended. A solution should be prepared in milk with iodine in a proportion of 1 liter per 15 drops, they need to be watered 1 time in 2 weeks. In addition, it is worth using chemicals: Trichopolum, Ecosil, Fitosporin.
Insect pests. To avoid infection, you should not feed the soil with mullein after watering, this attracts parasites. When fighting, use insecticides, for example - Sphere max, Topsin M.
Mosaic virus. Not treated. Infected bushes must be removed from the site to stop the spread of the virus. In cases of damage to individual parts in the early stages, they should be cut and treated with Trichopol bush.

Mr. Summer resident recommends: a ladies man is good for pickling

The fruits of the variety are excellent for making various dishes, including salting, as they contain a sweet, elastic flesh. In addition, Ladies' man has the optimal size and shape, thanks to which a lot of tomatoes will fit into the jar. After brimming, tomatoes acquire a unique rich taste, which no early ripe variety can boast of.
